Description The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.

We are seeking an Administrative Specialist I to provide beginning professional support for the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Centers (CDPVTC) Security and Dormitory Section in performing administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides administrative support for dormitory counselors and shift supervisor by monitoring student behavior, dormitory/student lobby area, answers and directs calls, contacts students regarding appointments outside the center, and distributes mail.
  • Serves as point of contact for vendors, other rehabilitation offices, family and center staff in the provision of student information.
  • Participates as administrative staff in the center behavior program documents and maintains program records using spreadsheets, that includes but not limited to problem solving meetings, accumulation of group offenses, recording honor status, tracking appeals, contracts, change plans and token economy.
  • Collects and analyzes data to complete dormitory reports.
  • Prepares statistical report, including maintaining dormitory census.
  • Assists with special events.
  • Reviews, makes recommendations and updates unit/center manuals.
  • Provides center tours and orders supplies.
  • Coordinates emergency procedures by planning dormitory fire drills, advising students of proper drill procedures, and calling roll after drills.
  • Completes emergency procedure reports and submits to supervisor for review.
  • Checks students in/out of the dormitory per CDPVTC pass system policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: High School Graduate

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in business, administrative work, research, or clerical experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: College will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
