About This Role:
The successful candidate will provide general administrative support to the Clerk to the Board in the Office of Communications and Engagement. The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships and provide excellent customer service is critical, as the office frequently coordinates with others and serves as an information hub.

Responsibilities in this role may include, but are not limited to:


  • Review, edit, and format resolutions, ordinances, reports, and other documents to be included in the agenda packet prepared for the Board of County Supervisors (Board).
  • Prepare Chambers ahead of Board meetings, including technology set-up, signage, and forms.
  • Be present at the beginning of the Board meetings to provide support to the public and staff.
    (Attendance at some evening sessions may be necessary.)
  • Manage, inventory, and order supplies for the Board and the Clerk’s Office.
  • Finalize resolutions and ordinances after Board action.
  • Perform searches for County records, including actions of the Board, for staff, the Board, and members of the public.
  • Oversee the distribution and collection of annual Conflict of Interest Act (COIA) forms for members of the Board, select County staff, and specific members of other Boards, Committees, and Commissions.
  • Manage and update the content for the Clerk’s Office on the County’s external and internal webpages.
  • Post public meeting notices for the Board of County Supervisors and other Boards, Committees, and Commissions.
  • Assist with the ongoing process of digitizing permanent records associated with the Board and the Clerk’s Office.
  • Assist with the management of the County’s various Boards, Committees, and Commissions, by updating records and communicating with appointees and staff liaisons when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of related experience.
Preferences:
  • Experience working with elected officials and/or members of an executive management team.
  • Previous local government experience.
  • Familiarity with standard records management practices, including the Library of Virginia’s general schedules and retention requirements.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products with an aptitude to work within various computer programs and systems familiarity with Granicus and Laserfiche is a plus.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.

Work Schedule:
This position works a standard Monday to Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week. Attendance at evening meetings may be necessary on occasion.

Starting Salary Range : $27.75 – $38.50 Hourly
