Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments for Alvarez Construction. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively work independently and as a part of a team. The Accounts Payable Specialist will collaborate closely with various departments within the company.
Job Functions include:
- Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and authorization.
- Review purchase orders, contracts, and other documentation to verify billing and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on any outstanding balances or discrepancies.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH Payments in accordance with the payment terms and company policies.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure that all necessary documentation is accurately filed and up to date.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure timely and accurate recording of project-related expenses.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of accounts payable or relevant accounting role, preferably in the construction or real estate industries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Knowledge of NewStar software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- General knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Associates or bachelors preferred
