GraceKennedy Foods (USA) LLC – DBA La Fe is a subsidiary of GraceKennedy Ltd. We are a full-service distributor of a range of over 1,400 products in the categories of grocery, frozen, dairy and beverages. We represent some of the top brands of food products from the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Europe.

With operations located in Moonachie, New Jersey; Miami, Florida and Atlanta serving the Eastern United States, our solid network of sub-distributors and wholesalers augment our direct to retail operation, allowing coverage to the mid-western states and the West Coast.

GraceKennedy Foods is responsible for distributing the La fe brand, Grace brand, Grace owned brands, and principal brands.

Purpose of Job

This job will primarily consist of local and interstate vehicle operations involving positioning and moving trucks on and warehouse distribution, suppliers and customer facilities.

Key Outputs/Deliverables

  • Operate trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations
  • Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of food items
  • Perform required before functions-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
  • Operate all MHE (Material Handling Equipment)
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
  • Comply with Company Driver’s Policy

Principal responsibilities

  • Follows the assigned routes and obtains necessary documents to transport goods
  • Loads and unloads cargo
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle
  • Records cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel expenditure
  • Manages bills of lading
  • Maintains log books
  • Communicates with dispatcher, other drivers and customers by means of wireless devices
  • Reports any incidents to dispatcher
  • Follows all appropriate traffic laws
  • Reports serious truck mechanical problems to the managers
  • Kept truck and associated equipment tidy and in good working order
  • Any other duties assigned.

Minimum education and experience

  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times
  • Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs
  • CDL Preferred
  • 1 or more year(s) experience as truck driver
  • Must be able to learn to operate all MHE (Material Handling Equipment) used by the company
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred

Job Conditions

  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold
  • Must be able to lift 50 LBS
  • Requires prolong sitting, driving, lifting, carrying and walking
