Traffic Sign Shop Supervisor – EXAM
Definition
Under general supervision, is responsible for supervising employees engaged in the work of sign fabrication and silk-screening performs related duties as required.Examples of Work
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)- Supervises employees engaged in the production of signs including the application of pressure sensitive material to metal blanks and the silk-screening of traffic control signs
- Supervises employees to include the completion of performance evaluations, recommendation of disciplinary action, and approval/disapproval of leave requests
- Inspects completed work to assure it is performed according to instructions
- Consults with professional engineering personnel on the needs for traffic control signs
- Designs signs and sign layouts using both computer and manual means
- Uses computer to track sign inventory, silk screening projects, work orders, etc
- Orders supplies and equipment as required maintains records of work accomplished
- May participate in all phases of the work.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the twelfth school grade and four (4) years of experience as a Sign Fabricator with the City of Columbus or comparable experience. A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of the twelfth grade completion requirement.Test/Job Contact Information

COMPETITIVE, eligible list for this classification. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. The examination process will consist of a computerized multiple-choice exam weighted 100% covering Supervision, Reading Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning, Problem Sensitivity, Plans, Specifications, and Reports, and Sign Fabrication.
The exam is expected to be administered in late June – early July. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.
All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidates name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
