POSITION SUMMARY:
The Photography Assistant assists photographers in the studio as well as on location. The position acts as support for photographers, photography manager, and other photography staff. The ideal candidate should aspire to become a full time Photographer, using the time as a learning experience as well as support for photographers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Photographer(s) on set in the studio and/or on location.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of complete studio environment.
- Possess understanding of the operation and use of a wide range of photography equipment.
- Organize and prepare equipment for location shoots and load and unload vehicles for location shoots.
- Help in the construction of sets, including painting and carpentry.
- Ensure that all studio vehicles are kept clean and organized.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate(s) or License(s): Must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
- Experience: 1+ years photography experience
- Photo studio experience a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Knowledgeable with studio strobe lighting equipment
- Proficient with Apple Computers
- Experienced with Adobe Photoshop and Capture One.
- The ability to drive large trucks
- Expertise with pulling trailers with a vehicle
- Self-driven, continually motivated with strong communication skills
- Team player that is open minded to new ideas
- Should be organized and detail oriented
- Production focused with excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs. at times
- Ability to work on multiple projects while effectively prioritizing tasks
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 40%
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly walks, sits, stands, and/or performs computer work.
- Occasionally lifts up to 50lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :
- Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
