The Transportation Analyst is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all outbound shipments to ensure optimal customer service while maintaining cost efficiency across the supply chain network. This includes the discretion to make daily transportation financial decisions aligned with Roche Diagnostics Operations goals and initiatives. Effectively analyze, evaluate, optimize, plan and execute transportation routings for customer and inter-company shipments including carrier selection, mode optimization, and cost optimization while maintaining target financial and customer service levels. Develop, implement and continually analyze effective monitoring, evaluation and improvement actions for performance of all carrier services to ensure shipment integrity, on-time delivery, and effective claims/invoicing resolution. Evaluate both internal and external logistics trends, analyze data for cost reduction opportunities and work within Supply Chain and across functions to achieve desired outcomes. Perform daily customer service reviews and coordinate the interaction between planning and customer service to ensure that inventory is available to meet customer shipments. Coordinate inbound routing requests with vendors and use discretion to authorize cost-effective returns as needed.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Recommends and executes transportation programs that control cost and provide superior service for outbound shipments, which may include imports and exports to foreign countries.
Communicates shipment status to internal and external customers.
Recommends and executes service oriented/cost effective transportation solutions to suppliers and internal customers for inbound shipments.
Develops, recommends, and executes processes that aid in the execution of transportation programs.
Negotiates with carriers regarding special service offerings and day-to-day operational needs.
Develops and executes unique routing solutions for analyzer expedites and inbound freight.
Troubleshoots / researches various issues as required by Transportation Manager.
Assists with the physical and administrative tasks involved in material movement and outbound shipments.
Operates forklift and other equipment as needed to assist shipping dock operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 2 years of business experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Strong computer skills with competence in Google and Microsoft Office suites, and SAP applications.
Strong communication (oral and written), collaborative problem solving, and analytical skills.
Strong organization and planning skills including project management.
Knowledge of materials management, logistics concepts, and transportation planning and analytics.
Be able to work independently and in a team environment
