Position Focus:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Access and Document Delivery Services, performs a wide range of Access & Delivery Services duties. Serves as a resource for established circulation procedures and policies for patrons and staff. Co-ordinates work with other Library Services Assistants to expedite and to maximize completion of work for circulation services.
Performs a variety of circulation procedures: charge, discharge, renew, recall library materials create item records. Uses software to reserve rooms and equipment for patrons. Processes Eli Express in the afternoon. Packages and creates shipping labels for books sent to Yale patrons and other libraries to fill or return interlibrary loans. Explains use and performs routine troubleshooting and basic maintenance of photocopy machines, printers, and computers. Provides information on library accounts, services, resources, and procedures to patrons and staff, in person, by telephone and email. Demonstrates online public catalog features for patrons. Attaches call number labels to print monographs. Serves as backup for interlibrary loan lending and scan and deliver requests. May assist in compiling statistics on circulation activity and gate count. Performs other duties as assigned.
