Position Purpose
The Teaching Fellow is a Dartmouth College employee immersed at New England Innovation Academy (NEIA) with school roles and responsibilities the same as NEIA faculty members. The Teaching Fellow will teach language programs for day and boarding students enrolled at NEIA.
This is an academic year position from mid-August through June,
located at the New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
This is a TERM position, which may be renewed annually for subsequent academic terms based on programmatic needs and performance.
Full-time residency at NEIA as a “dorm parent” is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluency in language(s) of hire.
  • Committed to understanding and working within the philosophy of NEIA, Dartmouth College, and the Rassias Center.
  • Knowledge of the Rassias Method, awareness of the drill culture.
  • Ability to learn Master Teacher Techniques and to incorporate them into lesson plans.
  • Experience mentoring/teaching middle or high school age youth (e.g. camp counseling, trip leading, tutoring, volunteering).
  • Ability and desire to work in an entrepreneurial academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty, and personal accountability at all times.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage the time of self and others.
  • Willingness and ability to live in a dorm on the same floor with students and to serve as a dorm parent performing all associated duties.
  • Proficiency or ability to develop proficiency in educational technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming and supportive community for a diverse study body.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct knowledge of the Rassias Method as a driller or drillee.
  • Special talent(s) that will benefit the NEIA community.

Description
Student Advising – Serves as a dorm parent, performs associated duties including leading afternoon activities each season, chaperoning school events, and supporting an advisory group.

Description
Classroom Teaching – Reporting to both Dartmouth College, Dartmouth/Rassias’ Language and Culture Specialist (LCS) and NEIA/Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation Coordinator, works with LCS and Lead Spanish/Mandarin Teacher to incorporate Master Teacher Techniques into lesson plans ensures quality control of Rassias Method and adherence to Intellectual Property Agreement. Teaches four to five sections of language classes to students enrolled at the NEIA. Observes other NEIA staff in the classroom as a learning experience and is observed and mentored by the LCS.

Description
Institutional Collaboration with NEIA – Works collaboratively and creatively with colleagues in various curricular areas and divisions, investing in the life of the school by participating in the advisory program, social and emotional learning, weekly department meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings, anti-bias training, residential life, and in support of the student experience. Attends Rassias Center and NEIA faculty orientation in August.
