Job Summary



Job Summary: Old Minto Family Recovery Camp is located thirty miles down the river from Nenana, Alaska. Old Minto is accessible only by plane, boat or snow machine. The program provides substance abuse counseling for individuals and their family members in a traditional setting familiar to the Athabascan people. Job incumbent will provide miscellaneous laborer duties in the camp.
Adhere to the TCC Ch’eghwtsen’ model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.


Essential Functions

Representative Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the OMFRC Manager job incumbent will:

1. Provide miscellaneous laborer duties in the Old Minto Recovery Camp.

2. Operates riverboat, four-wheeler and other all-terrain vehicles, as needed.

3. Operates hand tools when working.

4. Routine Maintenance to generator and well house.

5. Maintain all equipment and buildings to insure safety of staff and clients.

6. Do routine inspection of all buildings and make necessary repairs.

7. Insure there is enough fire wood, cut and haul when necessary.

8. To help Lead Camp Counselors maintain a safe environment for clients.

9. To keep records of all gas and diesel use and haul fuel when necessary.

10. Keep the tool room clean and locked all the time.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school education or GED.

2. Experience working in Rural Alaska villages. Knowledge of Recovery Camp preferred.

3. Knowledge and ability to operate riverboats, snow machines, four wheelers and a variety of power tools safely preferred.

4. Knowledge and experience in basic maintenance on Generators, outboard motors, snow machines, propane stoves and basic skills in carpentry and electrical work.

5. Six months sobriety required.

6. Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds.

7. Knowledge and ability to adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.

8. Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Supervision:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands: Incumbent will be exposed to certain conditions including but not limited to travel by small aircraft, boat and snow machine. Position requires constant standing, walking, and if necessary some kneeling. Job incumbent must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Incumbent uses hand tools such as axes, hammers, shovels, and others as needed when working at the camp. Work is done in an isolated camp setting, with exposure to adverse weather conditions, insects, and wildlife. There is no running water or electricity set up at camp.
