SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $47,065.28 to $74,187.38 for Schedule A, and $47,065.28 to $66,414.38 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 20, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 20, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

REMOTE WORK
: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties

The New Jersey Judiciary, Hudson Vicinage, has an exciting advancement opportunity open to judiciary employees. Under the general direction of the Ombudsman (Court Executive 1B), the successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance and excellent customer service to litigants, court staff and to users of the Ombudsman Resource Center in both English and Spanish languages. The successful candidate must apply court rules, statutes, policies, and case management procedures to provide assistance to litigants via in-person, telephone, and email inquiries in both English and Spanish compose routine correspondence or standard replies to inquiries assist pro se litigants with completion of Judiciary forms in both English and Spanish review litigants documents for completeness and procedural accuracy prior to filing and provide litigants with procedural information according to established court standards ensure the collection of data on walk-ins, telephone calls, and emails to the Office of the Ombudsman assist with Community Outreach and other Ombudsman Office initiatives perform other supportive duties related to the Ombudsman Program, as assigned.

Eligibility for Advancement: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination.

Experience Requirement: Three years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.

BICAT Testing: Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

Supplemental Information

Drivers License: Appointee will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the New Jersey First Act, all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor &amp Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
