Duties

  • Conduct studies of insurance technical matters and lead projects in the Insurance Program and its operating divisions.
  • Develop requirements for and make recommendations to improve efficiency of operating systems.
  • Lead project teams overseeing development and maintenance of insurance business systems.
  • Conduct quality review and validation of insurance operations in compliance with statutory, regulatory and Insurance policies.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives.

Specialized Experience:

GS-12: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) conduct studies of insurance technical matters and lead projects in an insurance program 2) coordinate project efforts amongst all employees of an insurance program and its external business partners AND 3) consult management regarding technical, operational, and regulatory aspects of an insurance program.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.

Note : Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience you document, to include volunteer experience.

Pandemic Telework Program:
Due to COVID-19, the VA is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 days. Work Schedule: Regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Alternate schedules may be available.
