Position Purpose
The Institutional Research Analyst collects, collates, analyzes, and disseminates data from across Dartmouth, including producing reports to inform the institution’s decision-making and planning processes with both internal and external constituents.

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social science, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in data management and reporting. Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Prior experience in data mart construction and creating semi-automated reporting processes.
  • One year of experience with structured query language (SQL) or equivalent experience in querying relational databases.
  • Strong analytic skills with high attention to detail, data quality, and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of SAS and the ability to become proficient in its use.
  • Knowledge of data collection, cleaning, and management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Ability to effectively visualize results for different constituent groups.
  • Knowledge of Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI preferred with a willingness to learn other tools as needed.
  • High level of adaptability to meet the changing needs of the office. Ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Capacity for self-management the ability to handle multiple assignments, independently prioritize effort, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Effective decision making, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAS or other analytic tool at the intermediate to advanced level with an emphasis on data acquisition, manipulation, and transformation.

Description
Reporting and Data Visualization

Develops new reports and updates existing reports related to statutory reporting, consortium reporting, and Common Data Set. Collaborates on data provision and analyses for guidebooks and external surveys. Produces or collaborates in the production of data visualizations using Tableau.

Data Collection and Management

Develops processes to improve the efficiency, consistency and quality of routine data collection and analysis queries ERP databases, creates data marts, implements quality checks.

Description
Survey and Ad Hoc analysis

Assists with processing and reporting of survey data. Performs ad hoc data collection and analysis.
