Position Overview

Assist with monitoring and maintenance of greenhouse and field experiments.

Job Description

  • 60% Field work
  • 40% Greenhouse and lab
  • Primary duties will include root scanning and scoring, greenhouse data collection, field plot maintenance, collecting plant and soil samples, processing plant and soil samples, and data entry.

Required Qualifications

  • Data collection requires focus and attention to detail.
  • The work can be physically demanding and may require long periods of sitting, standing, or kneeling.
  • Tolerance to Kansas summer conditions (insects and heat).
  • Interest in ecology, agriculture, plants, or soils.
  • During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
