Floor Technician
Reports to: Project Manager
Location: Louisiana VA Hospital (Contract Pending)
Schedule: Five-day work week
Pay: $17.45 + $4.57 H&W
Description: This is not limited to the Carpet Cleaning and Floor Finishing Technician areas of responsibility. Under the direction of the Team Lead, Site Supervisor, Field Supervisor or Manager, this position is responsible for performing janitor duties and/or related areas. Quality customer service will always be provided to the client. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
? Clean carpet and rugs with chemical solutions in residential or commercial facilities. Use both portable and van mounted cleaning systems.
? Prepare the surface, when necessary, by vacuuming carpet/rugs to remove loose dirt. Determine cleaning method according to condition of carpets/rugs within specifications. Identify persistent stains and select spotting agent to remove stain according to type of fiber, dye, and stain.
? Performs work operating battery-powered electric and manual equipment uses cleaning equipment such as: brooms, dusters mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and auto scrubbers stripper machine vacuums and wet mops.
? Cleans and maintains carts, equipment, and storage areas associated with position. Monitor assigned area(s) and equipment for damage or needed repairs and informs immediate supervisor.
? Consistently and routinely demonstrate both knowledge and skill in the safe use and operation of chemicals, equipment, and cleaning techniques necessary to maintain floors in the departments established using safe and quality standards.
? Knowledge and skill in the hard floor/tiles stripping and applying wax floor. Operating electric stripping machine and polisher to perform this job. Inspect the assigned work areas and reports any non-working fixtures, graffiti, or minor damage, such as scratches, gouges, and marks per departmental procedures.
Qualifications:
? One to three years experience.
? Must be able to pass a preemployment background check.
Education:
? High School Diploma or GED.
? Certificate and/or related training.
Physical Requirements:
? Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
? Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel or lift arms over shoulders or head.
? Must be able to use equipment without accommodation.
Mental Requirements:
? Ability to read and understand simple instructions relating to field of expertise.
? Ability to properly speak and have command of the language to properly explain or give instructions to staff.
Environmental Requirements:
? Ability to work in a hospital environment where there may be background noise for other personnel.
