Position Description

The Financial Associate will provide administrative and financial support to BCMP department and several Research Core Facilities. The candidate must be able to prioritize tasks and work independently. This position will coordinate all aspects of accounts payable and receivable for BCMP labs and research core facilities and will assist in the financial management of the cores’ activities.

Accounts Payable functions including: Processing and/or submitting Payment Request requisitions, non- employee reimbursement conducting research on and clearing up old POs and requisitions investigating and resolving invoices that are on hold assisting with setting up new vendors, travel reimbursements, and performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance.

Accounts Receivable functions including: Working with Research Service Core Directors to generate monthly invoices and related accounting for internal and external customers ensures any rejected invoices are reviewed and corrected in a timely fashion track revenue serves as main contact with Central Accounts Receivable Department (AR) and HMS departments/cores for invoicing inquiries and trouble-shoot as required.

Financial Management: Reconciling monthly financials for the assigned Research Core facilities review discrepancies with Cores Directors and the Assistant Director of Finance. Assist with a variety of year-end closing activities and annual budgets and rate development and assist in other related tasks as necessary Coordinating all aspects of accounts payable and receivable for the entire BCMP department including Research Cores. Contributes to other Department goals as required.

Basic Qualifications

3 more years of administrative and/or financial-related experience.

  • The candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
  • Individual must be self-motivated as well as a team player in a diverse environment
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Must have the ability to pay attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and excellent customer service skills.

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
