Description

If so, we invite you to consider a challenging and impactful role as our Inspector General within the Finance and Administration Cabinet!

The Finance and Administration Cabinet’s Office of the Inspector General serves as the investigatory arm of the Cabinet and conducts investigations into alleged mismanagement of state funds and violations of the Kentucky Model Procurement Code. The Office is charged with the prevention, detection, and investigation of fraud, abuse, waste, mismanagement, and misconduct by state employees, clients, vendors, contractors or subcontractors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plan and conduct independent, objective, and impartial investigations into but not limited to, program compliance, management of state funds, and compliance of the Kentucky Model Procurement Code.
  • Oversee and provide administrative programmatic review of the Tipline / Red Flag Reporting system.
  • Apply independent judgment and discretion with respect to highly sensitive matters to provide conclusions of fact in detailed reports of investigations to the appropriate parties.
  • Interpret and apply state statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to allegations of wrongdoing, improper or unethical conduct, or mismanagement involving employees of the Commonwealth or other matters under the purview of Kentucky state government.
  • Collaborate with various Cabinets to ensure a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and development of the Office of the Inspector General.
  • Assist the Human Resources Division and Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Contract Compliance as necessary.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a professional leader with the following preferred qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial or program compliance investigations, or as an Inspector General, or similar investigative role.
  • In-depth knowledge of ethical standards and statutory framework.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing ability to create thorough and well written reports.
