Position Information

Administers written and visual acuity tests and conducts road performance tests to determine applicant eligibility for motor vehicle driver license Categories 1 through 3; scores tests administered, collects fees and issues driver licenses and instructions permits; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancy: There is 1 vacancy with the Department of Customer Services, Motor Vehicles, Licensing and Permits Division. The position is located in Kaneohe. This position administers written and oral examinations and conducts road performance tests to determine applicants eligibility for various operators licenses. The incumbent is under the supervision of the Driver License Examiner II and must have knowledge of traffic laws and ordinances.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of supervisory, driver training instructional, regulatory or related experience, including or supplemented by one (1) year of frequent public contact which involved explaining rules and regulations to others in determining their eligibility or non-eligibility for licenses, benefits or similar matters.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Candidates must possess a good driving record, as evidenced by a certified traffic abstract with no moving violations within the past three (3) years, in order to be appointed to positions in this class; and must possess an appropriate valid drivers license for at least three (3) years immediately preceding appointment.


Verification Requirement: At the time of interview, you must provide a current certified traffic abstract issued by the District Courts.

LICENSURE REQUIREMENT
:
Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license (Type 3), at the time of application.
