Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This position is essential for the safety of the residents living in the Kansas Veterans’ Home. Employee will perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with all rules regarding said service. Work is frequently monitored by supervisor for accuracy and progress.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
This is a Door screener, which will:
Screen staff, visitors and vendors. Will sign all staff, visitors, and vendors into the facility. Record the following on the sign-in long: Print their name, Print time in and out, Nature of visit, take and records temperature, and asks related questions. Follows the desk screener instructions and screening tool for allowing staff and visitors into the facility. Maintains desk area, and completes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to function effectively under stress. Ability to relate to residents with empathy and understanding and to maintain a caring attitude. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Must successfully pass background check as required by K.S.A. 39-970.
As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans’ Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers’ Home and Kansas Veterans’ Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program. All applicants with a conditional offer of employment on or after July 1, 2018, shall be required to submit to a drug screening test.
