The Opportunity

The Director, International Logistics, is responsible for articulating and implementing the strategic vision of ANSC international transportation activities (including ocean, air and cross-border trucking globally) with the vision to protect the integrity of the ANSC and deliver the most cost-effective, sustainable, value proposition for the Organization.

What You’ll Work On

  • Effective Design, Development &amp Execution Guidance of the ANSC international transportation activities (including ocean, airfreight and cross-border trucking)
  • Strategic Sourcing &amp Relationship Management (in excess of $75MM), including performance, cost, and global contracting of Ocean Carriers, Outside-the-USA Distribution Centers, Transportation Providers and other Logistics Suppliers.
  • Mode/Efficiency optimization, Margin &amp Profitability Initiatives, Capacity/Resource Planning and Intelligence benchmarking.
  • Anticipating and managing supply chain disruptions, to protect the integrity and effectiveness of Abbott global supply chain.
  • In-house regulatory expert on International Maritime Organization, Overseas Transportation &amp Distribution Requirements.
  • Government Import / Export documentation &amp Customs Compliance, including Free Trade Agreements and Free Trade Zone in accordance with Abbott Laboratories Corporate Policy
  • Manage international freight &amp distribution operations to achieve or exceed operating goals and financial goals established by ANSC
  • Establish direction and leadership for the international transportation organization.
  • Maintain key strategic relations with senior supplier management.
  • Monitor and evaluate providers performance, including development of Key Performance Indicators
  • Manage Macro International Trends, Costs and overall industry market intelligence.
  • Seek, create, and enhance providers portfolio mix to deliver the most cost-effective and reliable international transportation contracts and performance across all modes (air/ocean/trucking). Initiate and finalize contract negotiations &amp amendments.
  • Ensure ample international shipping capacity is supplied to meet our shipping demands at all times
  • Deliver cost improvement through network optimization, supplier management and energy management programs.
  • Responsible for ANSC global and trade compliance to include:
  • Complete /document diligence on HTS, ECCN, FTA’s etc.
  • Classifications for Harmonized Tariff for materials, products etc
  • Coordinate import clearances for FG’s, equipment, materials etc.
  • Coordinates exports for non FG’s, samples, etc.
  • Customs import/export compliance + annual reporting
  • Manage areas of responsibility including plan, LBE and accuracy of financial plan/budget
  • Primary communication with internal stakeholders on costs, and providers services and performance
  • The role is responsible for compliance audits and is scope may include but is not limited to the following broadly described areas:
  • US Embargo and Sanctions Programs
  • Restricted Party Screening
  • Antiboycott Compliance
  • Export Control Classifications and Licensing
  • Deemed Exports and Technology Transfers

Position is responsible for global spend of approximately global air, ocean, and customs related spend of $75 million.

Manage AN’s Customs and Global Trade Compliance Team to build and maintain credibility with government agencies and to ensure accurate compliance in order to avoid and/or mitigate potential financial and legal fines

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field. MBA desired.
  • 7+ years working in Senior leadership for logistics roles
  • Experience with Air, ground and ocean freight

The base pay for this position is $162,000.00 – $324,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
