CUSTODIAL WORKER 2 – 3rd Shift

Under general supervision from housekeeping manager or other administrative supervisor, serves as lead worker: mentors, assists, informs, trains and conveys work assignments as directed by supervisory personnel engaged in providing care, cleaning & maintenance of buildings, furniture & fixtures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Adheres to all OSHA &/or Ohio University required safety guidelines.
- Serves as Lead Worker: mentors, assists, informs, trains and conveys work assignments as directed by supervisory personnel to assigned workforce engaged in cleaning activities: trains & demonstrates equipment use. Informs supervisor of work progress, building deficiencies & problems. Inspects work areas to determine health, safety & maintenance needs. Prepares & maintains related records (e.g., payroll, work orders, supply).
- Cleans furniture, walls, windows, floors, fixtures & equipment following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed** may move furniture, including special set-ups makes minor repairs to equipment & furniture reports accidents & malfunctioning equipment. Operate dish machine/pot washer to clean & sanitize dishes, glasses pans, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- 24 months of experience as custodial worker
- 400 hours Training in operating of cleaning equipment (or 4 mos. exp.) or equivalent
- Knowledge of custodial safety practices, methods, materials and equipment used in sanitation and safety areas of dining, residential, administrative or academic units
- Skill in operation of cleaning equipment
- Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form
- Ability to work independently or with others
- Demonstrated willingness to work with diverse populations
- Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of custodial equipment
- Ability to read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals & percentages
- Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems
- Establish friendly atmosphere within work unit
- Work at heights
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures
- May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards may be exposed to dangerous machinery confined spaces
- May climb ladders
- During Level 2 working conditions will be required to wear designated PPE up to and including full body suit, appropriate mask, etc**.
- May require valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of a test may be required
- Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of employee mentoring, training, development for custodial worker I, students and utility workers.
