    Duties &amp Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

    ENDORSEMENT REQUIRED: [173]
    • Provide services to students in the areas of academic, personal/social and career development.
    • Counsel students individually and in small groups.
    • Ability to teach classes in multi-grades with counseling curriculum based on the ASCA model.
    • Ability to implement a fully functioning counseling program for students in grades 9-12.
    • Responsible for and will work with administrators to implement a building- wide schedule.
    • 504 Coordinator for assigned students – includes all aspects of 504 implementations and initiatives.
    • Must be able to work and cooperate positively with staff, students, and families.
    • Must work with the exceptional education students, parents, and teachers in the development of IEP’s.
    • Willingness and ability to encourage teacher/parent communication and community involvement.
    • Ability to communicate with special education staffing teams and community agencies.
    • Refer students to intervention programs, academic programs, appropriate school personnel/community agencies and other programs to ensure academic success and personal well-being.
    • Interpret student records/transcripts.
    • Create and input schedules for students in Infinite Campus.
    • Participate in parent/teacher conferences.
    • Attend IEP’s as appropriate.
    • Use data to guide the decision-making process and ensure that the school counseling program is meeting the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.
    • Serve all students but is specifically responsible for students in counselor caseload.
    • Conduct individual academic program planning and updating of 4-yr plans as needed.
    • Supervision responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
    • Successful candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure that each child reaches his/her/their full potential.
    • Prepare students for graduation including but not limited to: scheduling, verification of graduation requirements and total credits.
    • Oversee, plan, and organize career and trades field trips.
    • Oversee and help coordinate Gear UP programs as needed.
    • Inform and assist students with all post-secondary options (vocational, employment, college, military, apprenticeship, etc.)
    • Inform students about advantages of higher-level courses (Honors, AP) and Concurrent Enrollment options.
    • Prepare and support students and assist in training staff for standardized testing (ISASP).
    • Support/Lead the building on district initiatives around SEBH (Youth Leadership Team, PBIS, etc)
    • Participate in the departments school counseling activities.
    • Participate in counselor related school activities (college nights, senior awards, graduation, etc.)
    • Skilled, understands and utilizes MTSS or willing to be trained/knowledgeable.
    • Skilled, understands and utilizes PBIS or willing to be trained/knowledgeable.
    • Other duties as assigned by the principal.

    • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
    • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
