Examples of Work

Enforce game, fish, boating and park laws and regulations and other criminal and traffic laws as required to fulfill the responsibilities of a state peace officer. Patrol assigned territory and investigate complaints and information received pertaining to possible violations, wildlife depredations, fish kills, stream pollution, etc. utilizing assigned patrol vehicles, boats and other patrol techniques. Prosecute boating under the influence cases, investigate boat accidents and promote boating safety / education. Prepare other state cases for prosecution and assist with the prosecution process as required. Assist in preparing federal cases for prosecution as required in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Perform game, fish and boating census, compile boating accident statistics, game and fish stocking/rescue operations, game/fish banding and tagging, depredation control operations, maintain landowner contacts. Complete wildlife management and park duties as assigned. Prepare and present hunter education, aquatic education, wildlife management and conservation enforcement programs, including presentations on radio and television. Complete and submit related reports and maintain necessary records.

Areas statewide, Nebraska

NOTE: Successful applicants will be required to work on Saturdays &amp Sundays, many holidays, and hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Requires work under adverse weather conditions and some travel with overnight lodging.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold or able to obtain Nebraska Law Enforcement Certification for continued employment.

Must possess good character and be knowledgeable of fish, wildlife and parkland resources communicate effectively with the general public, agency personnel and other law enforcement agencies orally and in writing operate motor vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs and watercraft maneuver on foot over heavy terrain operate firearms prepare reports and maintain records basic computer knowledge and skills learn Game and Parks Commission regulations, state statutes and criminal code.
