Building Inspector Job in City of Lincoln & Lancaster County

M – F; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
This is responsible technical enforcement work in the inspection of buildings under construction or alterations to determine and secure compliance with the municipal building and zoning codes and other related city and county codes and regulations. Work involves responsibility for inspecting buildings under construction, alteration, repair and demolition in order to enforce adherence to the building codes, zoning ordinances, safety and health ordinances, and other related codes and regulations. A Building Inspector is required to perform building inspections, investigate complaints, or make other special inspections. Individuals with experience in zoning codes, enforcement, and complaints will be strongly considered.
Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent plus two years of experience in a building construction trade; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid drivers license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.
To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.
To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.
Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
