As the Accounts Receivable Clerk you’ll play a critical role in creating a quality experience that impacts the financial well-being of our patients. In an environment where the patient is at the center of everything we do, the Accounts Receivable Clerk play an important role on a team that supports the Accounts Receivable department by performing combinations activities. The Accounts Receivable Clerk will be required to successfully complete the UnitedHealth Group new hire training and demonstrate proficiency to continue in the role.
Training will be conducted virtually from your home. This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday to Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists in documenting standard operating procedures and business rules for the department
- Communicates with superiors, peers, employees, internal and external customers, and others, as appropriate, on a regular basis, assuring proper flow of information
- Assists in resolving problems relating to all areas of Patient/Third Party billings and missing information
- Responds to patient complaints and escalated issues to ensure the appropriate action for resolution occurs
- Collaborate with team members to ensure continuous improvement in processes
- Maintains current knowledge of billing requirements, denials and system practices

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in insurance billing – specifically denials
- 1+ year of experience in patient, client, or third-party insurance billing– specifically denials
- Advanced level of proficiency with Windows PC applications, which includes solid keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment requiring solid multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
Soft Skills:
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate with others
- Solid organizational skills are a must
- Ability to resolve calls, avoiding escalated complaints
- Ability to exhibit empathy and be courteous to callers
- Ability to triage and handle escalated situations
- Ability to adapt to changes
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
